On 28th April In 1985, six physicians met with an object of starting an API Branch at Mysore to serve as a nucleus for continuing medical education and social activities among the physicians in this city.
Dr.N.A.Jadhav, Dr.B.V.Rajagopal, Dr.C.D.Srinivasa Murthy, Dr.P.R.Anantha Rao and Dr.V.Lakshminarayan decided to start the API Mysore Chapter.
An adhoc committee was formed during the meeting and a decision to invite all the physicians in and around Mysore district was taken. Three months later, on 28th July 1985 there was another meeting and around 20 physicians including those from Bangalore attended to install the 1st batch of office beares of API Mysore.

Mysore, located at the foothills of the Chamundi Hills has earned the sobriquet "Cultural capital of Karnataka". The ornate as well as intircate work on the ceilings, some of which have exquisite stained glass work, the decorative wooden doors and pillars are of breathtaking beauty. The structure is built in the Indo-Sarcenic style using grey granite and contrasting pink marble on its domes. The palace is one of the major tourist draws of the city.
The Wodeyar rulers were animal lovers.At a time when the royalty was known to indulge in hunting, this Royal family had the foresight to nurture and preserve the animals of the wild. Set up by ChamarajendraWodeyar, a nature enthusiast, the zoo is known as one of the best in the country. The zoo houses some of the rarest of animals and is a major tourist attraction.
Mysore has one of the largest concentration of traditional buildings, that have been preserved to date. The Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion has been turned into a Museum of Folklore and Art. It is run under the aegies of the Mysore University. It houses some of the most fascinating and rarely seen folk instruments.The interiors of the Palace have some intricate filigree work and most beautifully carved wood.
Sail into tranquillity and peace in karanji and kukkrehalli lakes. These lakes offer some of the most serene spots in the city. Get away from the hustle bustle and relax in the green environs of the lakes.
Ideally located, Mysore can be the base for further exploration. Bandipur National forest which is an hour's drive from the city is a protected forest area. So is the Nagarhole Forest Reserve. If you are a wild life enthusiast you will enjoy the vistas the drive provides to these forest areas. And if one is fortunate enough one can even spot the National animal the tiger, apart from elephants, gaurs, deer, wild boars and other exotic birds too.
Rangantittu Bird Sanctuary is another spot for the bird enthusiast. A short drive from the city, these islands located close to Srirangapatna are home to many migratory birds. It is fascinating to see the islands filled with some birds that even fly from as far as Siberia in order to nest. Srirangapatna, made the capital of Mysore, Tipu Sultan is a scenic place on the banks of river Cauvery.
A visit otTipu's Summer Palace is a must. This building rests on a raised platform on the banks of river Cauvery. It is made of teak and has ornate frescos. The paintings inside depict the struggles of Tipu against the British.
Lalit Mahal Palace, built to house Royal guests, is set in sprawling gardens. It has a white shimmering facade splendidly resembling an Italian Palazzo. Built on a small hill, the palace has some of the most amazing views of the Chamundi Hills. Restored and convertd into a five star hotel, the palace offers guests a royal stay.
